چکیده
Abstract Mealybug wilt of pineapple (MWP) is the most important disease worldwide. During months September and November 2020, production fields cultivar Hawaiiana hybrid MD-2 in Satipo Chanchamayo provinces Peru, showed typical symptoms MWP. Based on symptoms, incidence level ranged between 70 90%. Symptomatic asymptomatic foliar samples were collected tested by RT-PCR using primers specific for mealybug virus (PMWaV) 1, 2, 3. Selected amplified fragments sequenced analyzed with bioinformatics tools. PMWaV-1, 3 detected symptomatic both cultivars but not samples. PMWaV-1 a nucleotide identity 91.70% from Thailand; PMWaV-2, 99.81% PMWaV-2 PMWaV-3, 99.09% PMWaV-3 Cuba. Mixed infections also cultivars. To our knowledge, this first report 3, associated Peru.

Yield Impact and Spread of Pineapple mealybug wilt associated virus-2 and Mealybug Wilt of Pineapple in Hawaii
Mealybug wilt of pineapple (MWP) is a devastating disease found in all the major pineapple growing regions of the world (4– 6,26). The disease is characterized by severe tip dieback, downward curving of the leaf margins, reddening, and wilting of the leaves that can cause total collapse of the plant. The etiology of MWP has long been in question. The disorder is generally associated with the pr...

Pineapple, Ananas comosus (L.) Merr., is a perennial, xerophytic monocot in the Bromeliaceae family (13). Planting materials used for commercial production are typically the crown from the top of the fruits (19). The planted crowns, referred to as the plant crop, will each produce a single pineapple fruit 18 to 20 months after planting (19). Following plant crop harvest, a ratoon crop develops ...

ABSTRACT The roles of Pineapple mealybug wilt-associated viruses (PMWaVs) and mealybug (Dysmicoccus spp.) feeding in the etiology of mealybug wilt of pineapple (MWP) were evaluated. Container-grown pineapple (Ananas comosus) plants from five commercially grown Hawaiian proprietary selections and a field study utilizing a randomized complete block design were used to test four treatments for ind...

ABSTRACT Closterovirus-like particles associated with mealybug wilt of pineapple were acquired and transmitted by the pink pineapple mealybug, Dysmicoccus brevipes, and the gray pineapple mealybug, D. neobrevipes. Mealybugs acquired pineapple mealybug wilt-associated virus (PMWaV) from infected pineapple plants or detached leaves. The virus was detected in plants by tissue blot immunoassay and ...

The genome of pineapple mealybug wilt-associated closterovirus-2 (PMWaV-2) was cloned from double-stranded RNA isolated from diseased pineapple and its sequence determined. The 3'-terminal 14861 nt of the single-stranded RNA genome contains ten open reading frames (ORFs) which, from 5' to 3', potentially encode a >204 kDa polyprotein containing papain-like protease, methyltransferase and helica...
